According to a friend who seems to know:
Phil, Mickey, Billy, Weir (maybe) , and Kimock
will be playing two shows only at Alpine Valley
as "Terrapin Station" during the first week of August

Why Alpine, "It's our favorite outdoor place to play"

Let's see....

Mati Klarwein, R.I.P.

Seen posted by almanac on the Well: Mati Klarwein, the German-born painter who created some of the most stunningly psychedelic album covers of all time (Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" and "Live Evil," Santana's "Abraxas," Howard Wales and Jerry Garcia's "Hooterroll" and others), died at his home in Majorca on March 6th. Here's a nice obit in the London Times.

Dharma Blog

Steve Silberman recently posted on the Well that Allen Ginsberg's official website has gone on line. It's very tasty and standards-compliant. Check it out.

Grateful Dread Site Redesigned

The cybercommunity site, Grateful Dread on the Web, has been redone and retrofitted with all kinds of new goodies: one more sorta related plug... do some good at the armchair activist site—lots of action alerts and terrific ways to make a positive difference in this world.

Stick a Fork in That Sucker

The Other Ones are a thing of the past according to Bruce Hornsby. No real suprise there. Most interesting is how he considers the remaining members of the Dead to be in "a trap."

R.I.P. Mark Vann (Leftover Salmon)

From the Zero list, reposted from the Cheese list:

KBCO just announced that Leftover Salmon's Mark Vann
died this afternoon at the age of 38 after a long battle with cancer.
Anyone who ever heard Mark play got to hear a beautiful player.
Send some kind thoughts to the Leftover Salmon family. I'll be
listening to some of my favorite Leftover tapes over the next
couple of days.
